U.K. SINHA Former Chairman, SEBI
UK Sinha is the former Chairman of Securities and Exchange Board of India. Sinha, a 1976-batch Indian IAS officer from the Bihar cadre, had a six-year term with two extensions at SEBI. His term ended in 2017. In Sebi’s history, only one chairman had a longer tenure than Sinha; D.R. Mehta, for seven years. Prior to being Chairman at SEBI, he was CMD of UTI Asset Management Company Limited and Chairman of the Association of Mutual Funds in India. He has actively contributed to the financial sector reforms in the country and is credited with starting the micro pension movement in India. He was Chairman of the Asia Pacific Regional Committee of the International Organization of Securities Commissions from April 2011 to May 2013.
